Membership Info
Each Sunday at the close of each worship service, the Pastor invites persons who wish to make a profession of faith or join the church to meet him at the front of the Sanctuary during the hymn of invitation. Below you will find a brief explanation of the ways in which a person may join the Church. As you consider this vitally important decision, any questions or concerns you may have may be shared with the Pastor or a member of our staff. Simply call the church office and ask to speak to the person you desire, or you may e-mail any of us through the links on our web site.
Joining by Profession of Faith With Baptism
If you have recently given your life to Jesus Christ, and accepted Him as your Savior and Lord, and desire to confirm that decision and/or affiliate with this congregation, you are invited to make public your faith in Him. At the close of a worship service you are invited to meet the Pastor at the front of the Sanctuary where he will visit with you for a moment about your decision. If you desire to be baptized as well, there is a short time of baptismal counseling that will take place before the baptism. The decision to follow Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is the most important decision anyone will ever make. Please know that the prayers of the people of God are available for you.
Joining by Transfer
Oftentimes people will, for a variety of reasons, change their church family—from one Christian congregation to another. In the UMC a simple certificate of transfer from another UMC with a re-affirmation of vows is sufficient to be received into the congregation. Transferring from another Christian denomination is also a simple matter. Since the UMC recognizes the ministry and authority of other Christian denominations (or non-denominations, as the case may be), as part of the Church universal, the Body of Christ, a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and any Christian baptism are accepted. All that remains is to receive the membership vows of the UMC. As members of Christ’s universal Church, will you be loyal to The United Methodist Church, and do all in your power to strengthen its ministries? Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church, and this congregation, and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service?
Re-affirming Membership Vows
Sometimes church members who once took an active role in participating in the life and ministry of the Church have, for a variety of reasons, slipped away from their involvement. Sometimes we find that in the busyness of life, we have also let our relationship with Jesus Christ slip as well. In the UMC we make available an opportunity for persons who desire, to re-affirm their vows and re-establish that relationship. The same vows required for initial membership can be used.
